Let’s find the right way forward

Finding suitable disability support can involve many questions, especially when needs, routines or circumstances are changing. We take the time to understand what is important to the participant, how they prefer to be supported and what they would like to work towards. From there, we can explain how our services may fit and help you make an informed decision without feeling rushed.

Do you have questions?

Choosing a provider is a personal decision, and the details often matter just as much as the services available. These answers can help you understand how support may be arranged and what to consider before taking the next step.

How do you decide which support worker will be the right fit for me?

We look beyond availability when matching you with a support worker. The process considers your support needs, communication style, personality, routines, interests, cultural background and the goals you would like to work towards. We also think about the worker’s experience, practical skills and approach to providing assistance.

Some participants prefer someone calm and quietly encouraging, while others feel more comfortable with a worker who is outgoing and highly conversational. Your preferences help guide the decision. A good match should help you feel respected, understood and comfortable expressing what you need. We will also continue to check how the arrangement is working once support begins.

Feeling comfortable with your support worker is important, and you should never feel pressured to continue with a match that does not feel right. You can speak with us about any concerns, whether the issue relates to communication, personality, reliability, boundaries or the way support is being provided.

We will listen without judgement and ask questions to understand what needs to change. In some situations, a clear conversation or adjustment may resolve the concern. In others, arranging a different worker may be the most appropriate option. You can contact Aisha Wellbeing & Care Services directly, and we will work with you to find a solution that better reflects your preferences and support needs.

Yes, support schedules can be adjusted where worker availability and notice periods allow. We understand that life does not always follow the same routine each week. You may have changing appointments, social activities, family commitments, study, work or periods when you require more or less assistance.

We can discuss what flexibility is needed and plan a schedule that reflects your circumstances as closely as possible. Giving us advance notice makes it easier to retain your preferred worker and arrange support at the requested time. Last-minute changes may still be possible, although this will depend on staffing availability. We will communicate clearly about what can be arranged and discuss alternatives when your first preference is unavailable.

When your regular worker cannot attend, we will let you know as early as possible and discuss the available options with you. Depending on your preferences and the urgency of the shift, we may offer another suitable worker, arrange the support for a different time or reschedule it to another day. Any replacement worker should receive the relevant information needed to understand your routine, communication preferences, planned activities and support requirements.

You remain involved in the decision and can ask questions before agreeing to the alternative arrangement. Some participants prefer a replacement so their plans can continue, while others would rather wait for their usual worker. We will respect your choice and aim to reduce disruption wherever possible.

We respond calmly and adapt the support to what the participant needs in that moment. Rather than continuing with the original plan regardless of how the person is feeling, the worker may slow the pace, reduce demands, offer additional processing time, move to a quieter environment or change the planned activity. Communication may also need to be simplified or adjusted to suit the participant’s preferred way of receiving information.

Before support begins, we encourage participants, families and relevant professionals to share useful information about triggers, early warning signs, calming strategies and approaches that should be avoided. This helps workers respond in a way that is familiar, respectful and consistent. The focus remains on preserving dignity, choice and a sense of control while helping the participant feel safer and more settled.

Yes. Your priorities should guide how your support time is used. At the beginning of a shift, you can discuss what you would like to achieve, which tasks require assistance and whether anything has changed since the previous visit. Plans may include personal routines, household activities, appointments, community outings, skill development or time spent working towards a particular NDIS goal.

You can also change your mind during the shift. For example, an outing may no longer feel manageable, or another task may become more important. Your worker can adjust the plan with you while considering safety, available time and the purpose of your funded support. Regular conversations about what is helpful also allow future shifts to be planned more effectively and in a way that continues to reflect your choices.

We welcome feedback because it helps us understand both what is working well and where the participant experience could be improved. You can raise a concern verbally, in writing or through someone you trust, such as a family member, advocate or Support Coordinator. When you contact Aisha Wellbeing & Care Services, we will listen carefully, document the issue and explain what will happen next.

The response will depend on the nature of the concern. It may involve speaking with the relevant worker, reviewing records, clarifying expectations or changing an aspect of the support arrangement. Your privacy will be respected throughout the process, and raising feedback will not affect your right to receive respectful support. We will aim to address concerns promptly, communicate openly and keep you informed until the matter has been resolved.
